Brand Ambassadors in Action: Pinterest at Cannes

As part of the launch of Pinterest’s exciting new ‘Lens’ technology, Elevate attended the Cannes Lions Festival, one of the largest worldwide events for those working in the creative marketing, advertising and communications field. The Pinterest Lens is a new experimental technology that lets you use the camera in your Pinterest app to “discover ideas inspired by objects you see out in the real world.”

Leading up to the event, Elevate recruited local Brand Ambassadors that were presented to the client and narrowed down to three wonderful staff members. Before arriving to the event, the Brand Ambassadors were set up on our online training platform, and once they arrived on site, were given a thorough briefing on how to use the app.

The  live activation involved three strategically placed interactive Lens kiosks along the Croisette as a fun way to demonstrate the new product which can be accessed on smartphones and androids through the Pinterest app. Our Brand Ambassadors did a fantastic job of engaging with passers by and educating them on the new lens technology and its capabilities which allows them to SEARCH what they SEE – taking a photo of an item to generate similar objects based on the image the camera takes.

Staff braved through the  heat and successfully increased awareness of both pinterest as a brand as well as the new product, with many people downloading the Pinterest app on their phones. Users thought that it was “very creative” and “extremely clever” and couldn’t wait to use it and show friends!
